WADAH MEDIA STATEMENT, 19 MAC 2025 URGENT CALL TO END THE ESCALATING VIOLENCE IN GAZA
WADAH is deeply alarmed and profoundly saddened by the recent escalation of violence in Gaza, where Israeli airstrikes have resulted in the tragic loss of over 400 Palestinian lives, including many women and children. This abrupt end to the fragile two-month ceasefire has plunged the region back into turmoil, exacerbating an already dire humanitarian crisis.
The resumption of hostilities has led to widespread destruction across Gaza, with critical infrastructure, homes, and shelters being targeted. Hospitals are overwhelmed, facing shortages of essential medical supplies, and the blockade has severely restricted access to food, water, and electricity, pushing the population towards a humanitarian catastrophe.
WADAH unequivocally condemns these acts of aggression and the collective punishment inflicted upon the Palestinian people. The targeting of civilians and the destruction of essential infrastructure are blatant violations of international law and human rights. Such actions cannot be justified under any pretext and must be halted immediately.
We call upon the international community, including world leaders, the United Nations, and human rights organizations, to take decisive action to hold Israel accountable for these atrocities. It is imperative to enforce an immediate ceasefire, ensure the protection of civilians, and facilitate the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid to those in desperate need.
WADAH fully supports the strong and unwavering stance taken by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, in defending Palestinian rights and condemning the Israeli regime’s actions on international platforms. His leadership in voicing Malaysia’s position at global forums, advocating for diplomatic pressure, and mobilizing international support for Palestine reflects Malaysia’s steadfast commitment to justice, human dignity, and peace. We acknowledge the Prime Minister’s tireless efforts to rally the Muslim world and the international community to take concrete steps in ending this humanitarian catastrophe.
WADAH stands in solidarity with the resilient people of Palestine, who continue to endure unimaginable hardships. We urge all Malaysians and the global community to remain steadfast in supporting the Palestinian struggle for justice, dignity, and the right to live in peace.
The time for action is now. We must not remain silent in the face of such grave injustices. Let us unite in our efforts to bring an end to the suffering in Gaza and work towards a just and lasting peace in the region.
